In actions this past week, the boards of directors of the Tri Rivers Education Computer Association (TRECA) and Northwest Ohio Computer Association (NWOCA) authorized creation of a collaborative shared service and resource center that will increase and strengthen quality service options for customers; improve operational efficiency; reduce costs of operation and administration; improve revenue opportunities and strengthen performance capacity while retaining flexibility in their individual operations to tailor programs to best meet their core member needs.

TRECA and NBEC/NWOCA senior management describe the venture, the Ohio Collaborative Services Consortium, or the Ohio CSC, as a combined service management and delivery center that will allow the organizations to:

“Combining resources and service delivery with an organization that shares our focus on customer service and offers high quality assets and products that complement our own is a logical strategy for strengthening our business structure and improving our portfolio of services to members and customers” said Mike Carder, CEO of Tri Rivers Educational Computer Association.

“The creation of the Ohio CSC will allow us to bring additional resources and services to our member base, to focus on our core strengths and to expand our market reach. • FREE EVENT! BYOT Conference on Nov. 8th, 2012

Posted by Andrew Talcott at 10/23/2012 1:00:00 PM

On November 8th, TRECA will be hosting the Bring Your Own Technology (BYOT) Conference, a free special event for educators. BYOT is an opportunity for students to bring in a personal, internet capable electronic device into the learning environment. Examples include:

    • Smartphones
    • Tablets
    • Hand held gaming systems
    • Netbooks
    • Laptops

This is a scary concept for some teachers and administrators, who often have strict electronic device policies in place. These policies are meant to keep students personal electronics turned off and out of sight. BYOT takes advantage of these personal devices and turns the classroom into a connected and interactive learning environment.

Sessions for this event are specifically geared towards district and building administrators, technology coordinators and curriculum/instructional specialists. Several sessions will feature special guest presenters, including:

    Warren I. Grody - Attorney
